Early December I was fortunate to be able to have a small book release party with my closest Swedish collector friends. The printer had made a few hand-bound sample books which the participants could buy. Among them was long time friend and collector Fredrik Juthberg, who also was a contributor for the book, especially with some killer 2-1B stuff which he focuses on. So before they start to ship worldwide, here is what Fredrik has to say about it:

Growing up (as a collector) with resources like theswca.com, the Kellerman book (my example is now as worn as the t-shirt I’m wearing) and the Chive Cast, it’s easy to forget how spoiled you are and how many ars...hours of work that actually have been put in by fellow collectors spending their free time creating these invaluable sources of information.

The Cromalin Strikes Back by Mattias Rendahl and Ben Sheehan is exactly this, and everything (well, depending on your goals in life of course) you could ever dream of if you have even the slightest interest in the process of making the toys we all love (in fact, if you have the slightest interest in vintage Star Wars toys, really).

It’s the result of five years (probably even more) of researching, gathering pictures of great (and really rare) preproduction items from collectors all over the world, creating checklists (wohoo ), doing interviews and then this amazingly funny writing on top of it all (Ben, it’s fantastic how you’re able to write about 327 or so proof cards etc. in a humorous and differentiating way), so if you couldn’t tell already, the outcome is simply fantastic.

I’m 100 % sure this book will be looked upon as a go-to guide for our hobby for a long time to come

Ps. Essy the dog seems to be liking it as well. Not sure why she fell asleep though, could have something to do with the pages she ended up reading...

//Fredrik
